MANOLO
Born in Mexico and Graphic designer, Mexican artist Manuel (Manolo) Trujillo is known for transforming conventional materials into extraordinary works full of texture and colour. After studying graphic design, he began experimenting with ordinary and waste materials as he taught himself how to make three-dimensional works of art. Using items such as pieces of foam, empty pizza boxes or straw bales, he began to transform them into ‘metal’ and ‘stone’ creatures, breathing a fantastical new life from the forgotten world. His work reflects a versatility of finishes with an emphasis on detail and colour, either making his works stand out or blend in to their surroundings.
